The Valais 25 is an adapter that enables the use of a saddle bag with a dropper seatpost. The Valais mounts to the plunger (upper seatpost), providing a secure mounting point whilst protecting the plunger from wear and the wiper seal from damage.
We have 2 Valais diameters available so you will need to know your stanchion diameter. Valais 25 refers to the strap height allowed by the Valais (25mm or 1" strap height). The double-lip design securely holds bags with straps up to 25mm wide and at full compression, the deep skirt contacts the seal collar first, gently protecting. The adapter is injection-moulded from technical-grade thermoplastic and strong enough to serve as a temporary kickstand in the event of dropper failure in the backcountry.
- DuPont ™ Delrin® strong, resilient and non-marking thermoplastic, enabling easy snap-fit installation and full strength down to -20°F / -29°C.
- Moves cargo onto the bike: Small and medium saddle bags are ideal places to securely store inner tubes, mini-tools and CO 2 cartridges, ensuring they are always to hand when needed whilst freeing up the top tube and handlebar bags for items accessed more regularly.
- Protects the seatpost: Inexpensive insurance, the Valais protects dropper seatpost shafts from wear that occurs at the intersection of the saddle bag, seatpost and grit thrown up by the wheel.
- Emergency Kickstand: Whilst dropper posts continue to improve, locking mechanism failure still occurs, often far from the trailhead. The Valais can be used to hold posts extended, allowing the rider to pedal comfortably out of the backcountry.
- Raceday Travel Limiter: When seven inches exceeds what the terrain demands, the Valais can be used to limit dropper travel as needed.
- 35mm height
Compatibility
- The Valais limits the dropper travel to at least 25mm.
- Must have a dropper seatpost for internal cable routing
- Fits straps up to 1" (25mm) in height
- There are 2 Valais sizes available - for 25mm diameter stanchions and one for 26mm stanchions. Measure the diameter of the upper plunger of your seatpost to determine the right size to use.
- The 25mm Valais fits posts with a stanchion diameter of 24.75 to 25.25mm. Some known posts of this size include:
- Easton Haven
- Giant Contact (internal routing)
- RaceFace Turbine
- RockShox Reverb Stealth
- Specialized Command Post
- 9Point8 Fall Line
- Bikeyoke Revive
- Others
- The 26mm Valais fits posts with a stanchion diameter of 26 to 26.5mm. Some known posts of this size include:
- Thomson Covert
- Fox Transfer
- KS eTen
- One-Up
- Others
- At full compression, the Valais' deep skirt contacts the seal collar first and will not contact the seal lip (protecting delicate seals from damage).
Installation
- Remove the screw and slide Valais onto the seatpost stanchion
- Set the Valais to the highest position, install the screw and tighten to 2-3 NM
- Fit your saddle bag with it as full as it will be on the trail.
- Let all air escape from your frame, drop the post and fully compress the bike's suspension.
- Ensure there is sufficient clearance between the tyre and the bag. If there is no clearance between the tyres, raise the dropper and lower the Valais until there is sufficient space between the tyre and the bag.
- Re-inflate your shock and ensure the Valais is tightened to 2-3 NM
