WHY WE MADE IT
Originally, we designed this hub as the cornerstone of our range. It was one of those product launches where we drew on all our experience in hubs and bearings to arrive at a hub offering the perfect balance between weight, performance, durability and aesthetics. Since the arrival of disc brakes (and the R45D), we have continued to manufacture it, as it remains the reference hub, and many of our cyclists still enjoy using their rim brakes, both on road and off-road.
WHY YOU WANT IT
The R45 front hub is lighter and more aerodynamic than most robust hubs on the market. We use a narrow hub shell and low flanges to make the R45 a solid and reliable foundation for any high-performance wheel build.
Our steel and ceramic bearings feature heat-treated surgical steel races, simultaneously machined for a perfect fit. The quality and speed of our bearings will be felt (and heard) on every ride. The more Chris King bearing races are broken in, the faster they become. Regular maintenance, even minimal, will ensure the longevity of this hub, even under intensive use.
