Description
Well, we tried to create a grip with lots of features that we hoped would remove some of the things we didn't particularly like about some of the grips out there.
Honeycomb design
On some of your favourite grips, you may notice that after just a few outings, you can see small parts of the rubber already twisted/torn or sheared. Some grips offer excellent cushioning, but the rubber can be too soft/spongy/sticky to withstand rough use over a longer period. For our Grippy, we opted for a surface structure reminiscent of a honeycomb and combined it with a material that offers a very good feel and grip, but it's stiff and solid enough, you can't twist the rubber, which helps keep wear to a minimum.
Cut-outs inside the sleeves
For even more cushioning on the outer palm area, we've designed cut-outs in the inner nylon support sleeve, creating space for more rubber material up to the handlebar for increased damping and support of the critical outer palm area.
Eccentric/offset design
The Grippy, whilst featuring a circular diameter, is offset from the median axis. Thinner grips generally allow a firmer/better mechanical grip, thicker grips can provide more cushioning and comfort. With the offset design, we've created more cushioning where you need it - on the rearward-facing side (palm side) of the grip towards the rider side - without increasing the overall diameter of the grip
Integrated bar end
One thing we found particularly annoying is that the outer ends of some grips tear too easily due to lack of or poor protection from poorly designed bar ends. Scraping a tree, going down, these things happen and you don't want the grip to tear too easily, do you? So the integrated black bar end mainly has two functions: a) the slightly tapered shape gives you excellent tactile feedback to feel where the grip ends and b) it offers solid impact protection.
