The eeSilk stem is articulated to reduce rider fatigue by dampening vibrations from the ground. Maximum travel is 20mm, with an elastomer placed between the body and the part fixed to the steerer. The elastomer density varies across five models (Extra Soft, Soft, Medium, Medium/Firm and Firm). Additionally, a two-position lever easily accessible on top of the stem allows the filtration to be activated or deactivated.
The eeSilk stem is thus very versatile and adaptable to different surfaces. The lever allows cyclists to use the stem in the flexible position and then lock it for pedalling, for example when out of the saddle.
The eeSilk stem is available in 90mm for this special launch version. Each eeSilk stem is supplied with three elastomers (also available separately) whose firmness varies depending on the stem length. Changing an elastomer and testing your preference is very simple and doesn't require removing the handlebars.
Cane Creek recommends first riding on the elastomer that is installed as standard to form an opinion. Then, the cyclist can switch to a softer or firmer elastomer depending on their preference and riding style.
