Description

WHY WE MADE IT

Originally, we designed this hub as the cornerstone of our range. It was one of those product launches where we drew on all our experience in hubs and bearings, to arrive at a hub offering the perfect balance of weight, performance, durability and aesthetics. Since the advent of disc brakes (and the R45D), we have continued to manufacture it, as it remains that reference hub, and many of our cyclists still enjoy using their rim brakes, on road and off-road alike.

WHY YOU WANT IT

The R45 front hub is lighter and more aerodynamic than most ultra-durable hubs on the market. Our R45 rear hub combines a redesigned 45-tooth RingDrive™ system for reduced drag and near-instant engagement, with a lightweight hub shell and our legendary in-house manufactured bearings.

Our steel and ceramic bearings feature heat-treated surgical steel races, simultaneously machined for a perfect fit. The quality and speed of our bearings will be felt (and heard) on every ride. The more Chris King bearing races bed in, the faster they become. Regular maintenance, even minimal, will ensure the longevity of this hub, even after many years of intensive use.

All Chris King rear hubs produce that characteristic sound, similar to that of an angry bee.
